History of the AreaThe famous Tea Estate
Bhoujit Rai, son of Dakman Rai, the famous Nepali Sardar, established a tea garden in Soureni by planting a tree variety called "Saur" and some tea on this personal estate. The estate has later being taken over by Tiwari brothers – Ramlal and Jalooram, who originally came from Rajasthan in 1870. Later in 1902, Tiwari brothers estate was formally established by Tiwari brothers.
Soureni is well connected with the major places like New Jalpaiguri, Bagdogra, Siliguri and Darjeeling
